Aroma
Vanilla · ●○○○Caramel · ●○○○

The aroma is mild and sweet, with light caramel and vanilla. Neither note is especially strong on the nose, so the aroma gives only a hint of just how sweet the tequila becomes once tasted. It is pleasant, but fairly restrained compared with the flavor that follows.

Taste
Caramel · ●●●●Butterscotch · ●●○○

Caramel dominates immediately, reaching a full 4 in intensity. A moderate butterscotch note adds even more richness underneath it. This is an unapologetically sweet tequila. The profile is much closer to caramel candy or dessert than to an agave-forward añejo, and that sweetness is exactly what defines the experience.

Finish
Caramel · ●●●○Butterscotch · ●○○○Spicy / Pepper · ●○○○

The caramel remains strong through the finish, dropping only slightly from the initial taste. Mild butterscotch continues alongside it, while pepper finally emerges and provides some contrast to all that sweetness. The pepper helps keep the finish from becoming completely one-dimensional, but caramel still owns the experience from beginning to end.

Verdict

Adictivo Añejo is best thought of as a dessert tequila. It is intensely caramel-forward, rich, smooth, and very sweet, with enough butterscotch and pepper to add some variation. It is not the tequila I would choose if I wanted a strong expression of cooked agave, and that very sweet profile helps explain why it can be polarizing among more traditional tequila enthusiasts. At the same time, that is also its strength. For someone new to tequila—or an occasional drinker who finds traditional tequila too earthy, vegetal, or peppery, Adictivo can be extremely approachable. And if there is such a thing as a tequila made for dessert, this is it. I could easily see it pairing well with flan, where the caramel-on-caramel combination would be right at home.
