The aroma is led by moderate agave, supported by mild vanilla and a light alcohol presence. It comes across as relatively simple but balanced. Interestingly, there is little indication in the aroma of the pepper that becomes much more noticeable once tasted.
Pepper and vanilla are the strongest flavors, each landing around a 2. Mild earth and agave sit underneath them. That creates an interesting sweet-and-spicy combination. The vanilla brings some softness, but the pepper prevents the tequila from becoming particularly sweet or delicate. Compared with the aroma, the taste is more assertive and somewhat more complex.
The sweeter flavors fade during the finish. Vanilla and agave remain mild, while the pepper continues at moderate strength and becomes the dominant lingering note. The finish is more spicy than smooth or sweet, reinforcing the pepper-forward character of the tequila.
1800 Blanco combines moderate pepper and vanilla with lighter agave and earthy notes. It is more balanced than harsh, but the pepper remains prominent from the first sip through the finish. It was more similar to Cazadores Blanco than I expected when tasting them side by side, although 1800 leaned further toward pepper while Cazadores showed more noticeable vanilla. That difference also carried into a margarita. The spice from 1800 remained easy to detect, along with a possible touch of earth. It was perfectly acceptable, but the pepper-forward profile would not make it my first choice for a straightforward margarita. While it works as both a sipper and a mixer, it does not offer the same smooth, oak-driven character that makes 1800 Añejo one of my favorite affordable everyday tequilas.
